All of the pictures I've seen show that black is a little more versatile than it led on to be. Keep reading to see just how black can transform a space to look rich and sophisticated.
In fashion, black is popular. It slims any figure and is a classic when referring to the "Little Black Dress". When it comes to home decor and wall colors, some may not be as open to the hue. Gothic, dark, depressing is what comes to mind when thinking about painting walls all black, but after you see these pictures I've stumbled on, you will certainly think differently. And if you're not a "step out of the box" type of person, you might challenge yourself after this.
Take the picture above, the walls are black, but there is such a mix of light and neutral colors in the decor and rug, that balances well with the black. Natural light tricks the eye and cuts up the darkness that black gives off, making this room still feel light, bright, and airy.
Just like any room in a home, bathrooms are no exception either, especially when paired against white.
Chalk paint is very popular right now in just about every room, especially kitchens (like above) and kids playrooms. You can still decorate with a black wall, but making it fun in the process. Guests can leave messages, kids can draw pictures, or it can be used to write to-do lists for the family.
What about black patterned wall paper? Some people are pro-paper, others are not. If you're not keen on painting your walls with a heavy solid color, wallpaper would be a great option. The picture above has such a luxurious look and the print is fancy but very demure. This room looks so expensive and sophisticated without having to pull out any brushes.
The room below is very bold and out there, but it really works well with the furniture style and the portraits on the wall. It definitely adds a touch of personality.
The last style to consider when going black is a shiny, lacquer. It gives a high gloss look. One thing to consider is that the shine will pick up any imperfections so make sure its prepped properly before painting.
